Locus of control is a psychological concept that describes how people believe they have control over situations and experiences that affect their lives (https://www.edglossary.org/locus-of-control/). When it comes to myself, I withhold locus of control because we all have the capability to manifest our lives the way we want and that is how I view my life.

The type of locus control I exhibit in my life refers to my personal relationship with people. Internally, I have realized that some situations go out of my control because of how I react to certain things although it didn't deserve that reaction from me. This has helped me realize that the more I handle certain situations in the most nonreactive way, I now see my life becoming more at peace.

Example: My journalism career is a good examples because I know the more I put myself out there, the more opportunities will come my way. If I want to succeed in my academics, I have to prioritize.
A growth mindset is the belief that intelligence can be developed. Students with this mindset know that they can get smarter with hard work and help from others when needed (https://mindsetscholarsnetwork.org/learning-mindsets/growth-mindset/). When it comes to myself, I agree that this is something I withhold as well because looking back at the type of student I once was, I have definitely become more intelligent and knowledgeable of the student I can really be.

The benefits of having a growth mindset is learning more about yourself and the world around you. The more you take time to learn things and study things that interest you, the more your mind becomes enriched.

Example: I have learned that everyone is on their own level of intelligence, but I am not going to knock myself down. I know I need to do more to get to where I need to be. With my academics, if I want more knowledge about my major or any other course, I need to ask questions, get the help I need, and utilize the new knowledge I gained.
